ප්‍රවීණ කලාකරු හෙන්රි ජයසේන මහතා මීට ස්වල්ප වේලාවකට පෙර අභාවප්‍රාප්ත විය. රෝගාතුරව දකුණු කොළඹ ශික්ෂණ රෝහලට ඇතුළත් කර සිටියදී ඒ මහතා අභාවප්‍රාප්ත වු බව පවුලේ ඥාතීහු ප්‍රකාශ කළහ. හෙන්රි ජයසේන මහතා වේදිකාව, සිනමාව හා රූපවාහිනිය හරහා සිය කලා කෞශල්‍ය විදහා දැක්වු ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ කලාකරුවෙකි. වේදිකාවෙන් හුණුවටයේ කථාව, සිනමාවෙන් ගම්පෙරලිය සහ රූපවාහිනියෙන් දූ දරුවෝ වැනි නිර්මාණ තුළින් හෙන්රි ජයසේන මහතා ජනතාවට වඩාත් සමීප විය. දේහය පිළිබද අවසන් කටයුතු පසුව දැනුම් දෙන බව පවුලේ ඥාතීහු ප්‍රකාශ කළහ.
Veteran film and stage drama artist Henry Jayasena passed away this morning at the Kalubowilla Hospital .He was 78. Funeral arrangements will be notified later according to his family members.
Dr Henry Jayasena was born on July 6, 1931 in Bendiyamulla, Gampaha is an actor and dramatist. He had his primary Schooling in Padiyapellela in the Nuwara Eliya district in 1950. He passed the General Clerical Service Examination and secured a job with the Public Works Department (PWD). While with the PWD, Jaysena produced many of his most famous plays, Janelaya (1962), Thavath Udesenak (1964), Manaranjana Wedawarjana(1965), Ahas Malilga (1966), Hunuwataye Kathawa (1967), Apata Puthey Magak Nethey (1968), Diriya Mawa (1972), Makara (1973) and Sarana Siyoth Se Puthini Habha Yana (1975) were some of his well acclaimed plays.
Before retiring from government service, he also served as Deputy Director for the National Youth Services Council (Arts and Sports Division) and also at the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (Programmes Division).

Henry Jayasena is one of the foremost artistes of SL excelling in drama, acting, writing and also singing. He was a person of modesty, humility and probity. Being a self – made and self – taught man, his achievements and contributions to SL’s art world have been enormous. People will remember him for many more generations.
May he attain Nibbana.
