Department of Examinations plans to issue G. C. E. (O/L) results through its website http://www.doenets.lk by Thursday, as we learn from newspapers.

I feel this is the ideal time to start a discussion how far the Sri Lankan education system has fared, using the G.C.E. O/L results as a yard stick.

According to Department of Examinations, this was the percentages of candidates who have passed in selected individual subjects in 2006 G. C. E. (O/L) examination.
